The zodiac’s myriad cast of characters includes mostly animals, (including one mythical sea goat,) and a few human characters: the archer, the water-bearer, the twins, and the virgin. And then there’s Libra. Libra stands alone as the sole inanimate, celestial object: the scale. But the thing about Libra is, Libra never stands alone. It’s easy to get mired down in the idea of Libras’ sense of balance or fairness, given this representative glyph, and all of that does indeed apply. However, I believe Libras are best characterized by their extreme desire for connection, which comes from the fact that they have to work harder for it than the rest of us with beating-heart avatars. It would be easy for Libras to settle into a cold, justice-minded vibe and just inhabit the idea of being the scales. But that’s not who most Libras are.

How do Libras do it, then? With everything they’ve got. They inherently like people. They flirt, they organize parties, and they make their own homes as inviting as they can so that people will want to come over. They avoid conflict. They hand-write words of encouragement. They adapt their personalities to whomever they are currently hanging out with. They seduce. They post the best selfies on all of Instagram.

Munich’s Oktoberfest should really be called Librafest. While it does indeed transpire at least somewhat during the month of October, it always begins in September, right around the advent of Libra season. Is this coincidence? Likely, yes. However, Libras have a strategicness about them, especially when it comes to the pursuit of winning people over. Many Ocktoberfest beers are also known as “marzens,” meaning “March” in German, which is when these beers get brewed in order to be ready for a big September party. That’s a real Libra move.

Wine: Imagery Winery Wow Oui

We’re not about judging wine by its label, but let’s face it, when matters of quality are equal, Libras are always going to choose the most Instagrammable option. So California’s Imagery Winery is speaking Libra language with substance and style. A winery with its own art gallery, Imagery’s labels are commissioned from working artists. It’s hard not to love something called “Wow Oui”—a white blend stunner with artwork by Toronto artist Emily Filler.

Spirit: Teremana Tequila

There’s just no party without tequila, nor without Libra. Leos may be the attention-seeking life of the party, Aries can be counted upon to stir up drama with Truth or Dare, and Aquarians may be holding court in the deep conversation department, but it is Libra who’s probably hosting, making sure everyone’s having a good time, creating FOMO with their social media coverage, and constantly refreshing everyone’s drink. The best influencers, Libras are also the sign with the greatest potential to be influenced, so a celebrity tequila might actually be in order here, and for that, The Rock’s Teremana tequila scores high marks for both taste and ethics, which Libra can totally stan.

Non-Alcoholic: Cann Social Tonic

Social, if you haven’t yet caught on, is the operative word here for Libra, who will never turn down an opportunity to hang. While Cann’s lineup of tonics are indeed non-alcoholic, they are nonetheless socially lubricating, infused instead with cannabis. Offering a mellow buzz with alluring flavors such as Blood Orange Cardamom and Lemon Lavender, these are the perfect vehicle for a little relaxed, eye-batting flirtation.

If you’re going to be photographed with a cocktail in hand, (and let’s face it, Libra is their own daily photographer in most cases,) it’s got to be a martini. Sophisticated and sublime, with the opportunity for especially photogenic glassware and garnish, a classic martini with its two sole ingredients also speaks to Libra’s quest for balance.
