For the average person in the Northern Hemisphere, July means long hours of daylight, warm days, sultry nights, frosty treats, firefly sightings, dramatic skies, splashing in a body of water of some sort (hydrants and sprinklers count!) and perhaps a midsummer vacation to relax.
But those of us in the adult beverage industry only see the middle of July through hazy, booze-coated, plastic cups. Because most of us are drinking and schvitzing together at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans!
Tales of the Cocktail is the annual tradition organized by Ann Tuennerman (a.k.a. “Mrs. Cocktail”) that unites an international group of bartenders, apprentices, writers, consultants, historians, spirits brands and game cocktail enthusiasts to… well… drink in, seminars, discussions, events, spirited meals and parties – all centered around the realm of spirits and cocktails.
So yes, it’s a cocktail convention. In July. In New Orleans. Sure it’s hot, but it is not unfun.
This year, for the first time, Alcohol Professor is proud to be a sponsor at TOTC and we will be holding court in our very own tasting room! The event, held on Thursday, July 17th from 3 – 5 at the Hotel Monteleone, will showcase some of the winning spirits in every category from the NY International Spirits Competition, as well as provide an opportunity to meet some of the distillers and brand managers. It’s an excellent time to wind down from your afternoon seminars and spirited lunches and come taste some fantastic spirits from around the world, all great things from Aberfeldy Scotch to Zacapa 23 Yr Old Rum!

Adam and I are so looking forward to seeing everyone at the tasting, and participating in this year’s shenanigans in the Big Easy! To see what we were up to last year, please have a gander at our archived articles:
